Question apartment hunting arg

Hi. I've moved to Texas and am currently staying with my parents in Rockwall till I get settled. I'm working on Regal Row ex 434 on I35E N and am looking for a place a little closer due to the horrible commute during rush hours. I'd like to stay on the east side of Dallas since my sister and her family live in Forney and my folks in Rockwall....anyone have any suggestions? The area where I work is not attractive at all and apparently the crime is bad. I'd love to live in a nice 1bed 1 bath with trees and reasonable utilities. I don't make a whole lot so I'd be looking to spend approx. $650 including utilities. Low crime would obviously be lovely. White Rock area any good? I hear Garland is good, but still a little far out from work. any direction would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh yeah, im a single male 27 no kids or pets. Thanks again.

YA-OUCH! That could be a brutal commute. Are you taking I30 all the way into downtown then heading back north on I35? If not you may try it. I venture that way several times a month from Garland and I take 190 all the way to I35. If you wanted to check out Garland look at the Stoneleigh Apartments on N. Garland Ave (Lifetime Fitness right across the street), Seven Oaks and the others down on 190 at Campbell and Lookout. The new townhomes are being built at the mall in Garland and they have them framed up already. I do not know if they will be for sale or lease though. Rockwall does not have many apartments and I DO NOT recommend the apartments in Garland along 130 on the lake side. The White Rock and Lakewood area is nice and would be a fun place for a single to live and take advantage of everything around the area. Still close to head to your parents and sisters place. Commute, well you could almost avoid the highways but too much twisting and turning.

As for the area around where you work, it is mostly industrial so I would not really be too hip on living in that area even though there are lots of great restaurants right down the road at Loop 12/Northwest Hwy.
