We always took ours outside and in the summertime let the tailgate down on the truck and sat on it and ate. They'd put your order on a middle sized pizza pan. Actually, it was a pretty famous place and it was on the news some years back about it's closing. Cannot for the life of me rememer the name. Maybe Sonny B's or something like that? Grrrrr.....help me out, please.

Great thread, I've just got to get my thinking cap on.
I think you are thinking about the original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood.....still there as far as I know.

There was also a place that had either a country band or blue grass or something like that ...it was located on Mockingbird Lane down by the Dr. Pepper plant...best I remember. There was a famous banjo player there.

Lions Pub?

Any memories you have would be great.
Highpoint closed a few weeks ago. Midway and Addison Point still open.

Mr. Chicken. Of course. Oh it was so good. Lots of gravy.
Thanks too for the post about the Longhorn Ballroom. We would go in large groups and dance with the "old crowd." They really knew how to move around the floor. And someone reminded me about the Texas Tea House. I know those places weren't on Greenville. But we did go there some back in the day.
Photographer Randy Carlisle has some wonderful photographs of old Dallas area buildings, including theaters, Skillerns, restaurants and other places of local interest. He has a pic of Sonny Bryan's.

Just a slight correction on your location: if you are in Dallas you are far, far from the heart of Dixie. That would be Atlanta or Alabama or something.

You are correct. Maybe I should have said - left my heart in Dallas. Currently in the heart of Dixie.

The Levee Singers still get together and perform once or twice per year, usually at the Pocket Sandwich Theater -- near the original location.

1) J's Cafeteria
2) Seven Seas restaurant in Lakewood where Matt's Ranchero is now.
3) Vincents at its various locations...now only one left in Plano.
4) Highland Park Cafeteria
