Since your kids will be in private school anyway, why not look at homes in the North Dallas area? There ar elots of nice ones in that price range. You could be halfway between their schools and your work.
I commute to downtown Dallas everyday from Frisco via the Dallas North Tollway. I can be at the Tollway and Inwood in 15 minutes from Frisco in the mornings.

Getting there isn't the major problem. It's the driving home after a sports practice at 5 PM when it takes an hour. If you leave Plano at 7:30 AM to get to Jesuit by 8, the roads will be mostly clear. If you leave Jesuit at 3:30 PM, it won't be that bad. If you leave at 5 PM, it's gonna be packed.
