Why do they "deserve" sec 8? Not that I really have anything against sec 8 housing, but to say they deserve it sure rubs me the wrong way.

Well said Dave! I can't stand a false sense of entitlement and lack of respect for help received. Anyone who thinks the govt. should help them get into a 150k+ neighborhood should instead be calling the government the "givernment." Giving free handouts doesn't improve a society. Anyone who thinks otherwise should read this post on why it didn't work for the Pilgrims: Pilgrims Socialist Experiment Failed too... - Topic Powered by Eve Community

There are many apartments in north Dallas and Plano that take section 8 vouchers.

I think that you misunderstand what the poster is saying. I grew up in the inner city and I saw the good and the bad of Section 8. The government should only be use to aid people who are out of option, not to help people to live the life. I come from LA and I use to live in a low income area. Me and my wife were bringing in good money and we were saving up to get a house in a nice neighborhood. My friend lives in a nice neighborhood in LA and he told me the craziest thing. He said that the property next to him was section 8. I couldn't comprehend how me and my wife hard earned tax money is going to someone to help them live better than me.

Tell me how that makes sense?

I know this thread is almost a year old but this discussion seems to have turned into what some peoples personal opinion of section 8 is rather than focusing on what the OP asked. If your not going to answer the question then why not leave the thread be? Start another thread about your personal feelings on Section 8 but at least respect the OP's thread. There are lots of likes and dislikes about government programs but starting a debate about whether or not it should be allowed is after the fact. The point is that section 8 does exist and whether you agree with it or not has nothing to do with the OP's question. The question was where can I find section 8 housing? Not where can I find section 8 housing and what are your thoughts about the program?
