Need cheap rustic living close to Irving
My wife will work where 114 and the George Bush turnpike cross in north Irving. We are very private hermit types. Looking to rent a home in a quiet, rural, boring, and rustic community. We love agricultural living areas, and would not at all be looking for subdivisions, developments etc with kids, or yuppie types.
We prefer tiny "one stoplight" types of towns with lots of boring, church going conservative types. Not into the "fake" new money, flip up hairdo (women),goatee(men) gentrified crowd.
Dont care about the age of the home, or city water or sewer.Manufactured style is fine.Willing to commute about one hour to Irving. We currently live in an older ranch style brick home on one acre and bordering 64 acres of farmland.

Look at the southern sector of Irving. You'd like the Hospital disrtict off of MacArthur Blvd.. nice big homes on large wooded lots. The further south you go in Irving the more rural it is and it's not uncommon to see small ranches down there. try the 75061 and 75060 zip codes.

What about Ellis County?
Looked at those two zip codes(75060 and 75061) on google earth and they still look a little too urbanized for me. We really dont need a big home, just something with some room around it. Wondering if northern Ellis county is within an hours drive to Irving?

Hey Fyrekracker,
Have you tried Realtor com yet? You can do an extensive search with listing how much square footage you want, the age of the home and how big the lot is as well as the price range and area. Ellis country is fairly far from Irving. Just type in the engine at the site I mentioned and see what it comes up with. It is not hard to find that type of home you are desireing in that area, but to try to find something in a rural area close to Irving will be tough.
I know the northern ellis country area well. Midlothian, Ovilla, and Red Oak are nice areas but they would be a distance away. Midlothian would be more of the type of town you would like by what you were describing. Midlothian though, is expensive and is growing with many beautiful new construction homes going up there.

I'm sure it's too far of a drive for you, but you might think about towns like Breckenridge, Throckmorton, Caddo, Palo Pinto or the like. They are all west of Ft. Worth, so I don't know what that drive would be like but they are very rural. A little too Podunk for me now (I grew up in Breckenridge), but they sound like what you want. My parents like to be hermits, too, and they live on the lake there.
