I do not want to join this debate with my limited knowledge on this topic but TEA ratings are quite overrated to be honest. How come schools with acceptable and recognize ratings score better on SAT, ACT & NMS so often?

Exactly.

The best indicators of college preparedness are SAT and AP, not TAKS/TEA ratings.

Funny you are talking about AP, since Liberty Frisco has the fifth highest rate with 80% rating passing. This is one thing to have a lot of kids taking AP classes , this is an another one to actually have the students passing those classes. I don't have much time , but I will come back tonight with other numbers from your favorite site.

Hey, it's easy for Frisco ISD to inflate the AP pass rates when 1) taking the AP exam isn't mandatory for every student in the class to take the exam and 2) the administration purposely steers struggling students away from taking the AP exam. But congrats on that 80% "pass rate"!!

SMU is easily accessible using DART. It's a easy walk or bike ride if the weather is nice. There is also the 768 Mustang Express bus that connects rail stations and the campus.

I do like the helicopter idea - just not for me. Too much flying gives me the willies. Almost as much as 635. Frankly, I'd rather panhandle.

Default Hip Dallas neighborhood/commute to Frisco TX

I'll be living in the Dallas area for several months on a work assignment. I'll be working in Frisco but would rather live near a large city...so I'm searching for an apartment in Dallas. Any suggestions on diverse/hip neighborhoods that are a fairly easy commute to Frisco? I'd be working near the southern end of Frisco with easy access to US 75.

I have never been to Frisco and know nothing about the area...I have a little familiarity with Dallas and no concerns about a 30-45 minute drive to work if I can live in a more interesting area near activities and shopping. Safety is also very important. If Dallas is not a good option, what about Plano?

Any suggestions?

P.S. I'm in my mid-thirties if that helps

Can you tell us a little about your definition of hip? Bishop Arts and the Tyler/Davis area fits my description of hip, but may not fit your's. Plus both those areas are kinda far from Frisco.

I think this would be a reverse commute, in other words figure that the drive time would be a little bit less than if you were living in Frisco and working in Dallas, so that's good. (Not that you can count on avoiding traffic entirely.)

The Knox/Henderson neighborhood is one where you could hop right on to 75. The area west of the highway (Knox) is a bit more polished, and pricier than the area east of the highway (Henderson).
