What areas in Dallas or Surrounding areas have homes in 120000 to 130000 price range that would be safe?
Thanks for any suggestions! First time homebuyer and single.

Where will you be commuting to? Are you looking for single family homes or townhomes and condos as well? Are you willing to do cosmetic work on the home? There are many places that would fit either way.

If you were looking for condos only, I would suggest Addison. There are several nice complexes with great amenities. Most of them are gated too. The downside is the monthly HOA can be steep from $100 to 400+ a month.
Since you don't seem to care how far of a commute, for SFR, I would suggest Garland, Mesquite, and Rowlett. Plano has a few but they sell quickly in this price range, you would need to be extra vigilant with the market. Same goes for Richardson.

I would also agree with Mesquite, Garland and Rowlett as a place to start. Cedar Hil and Grand Prairie would be a option depending on what of town you work in.

You could also look into Lewisville and Richardson in that price range.
