Traffic on I35 from Lake Dallas/ Lewisville to Parkland Hospital
I have researched on here to try and find some specific info about the drive down I35 from the Lake Dallas area or from Lewisville, but I am only finding general remarks on that drive. Does any one have specific numbers on time to do the drive? I would be driving down before 7:00 am and driving back, unfortunately, between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. I would appreciate any specific experiences with time of travel.
Thanks a bunch.

Not a work commute, but my dad was recieving treatment at the Seay Cancer center at UTSW and they were coming from 407 in Lewisville (just south of the lake). And there appts were usually right about 8AMl.
Definitely traffic. Hot spots seemed to be at I35 and 190 (Bush), and then at 635. And I seem to recall getting across Lake Lewisville can be a bit iffy depending on traffic. especially if there's an accident. There's no alternate route from Lake Dallas to Lewisville other than across the bridge.
That said they were able to use the HOV lane and it made a big difference.

I live right near 407 and I-35. I had to travel down to the downtown area, and leaving at 7AM put me there somewhere around 7:45 - 8:15, depending.
Going back will be about the same.
It's definitely not a drive I would willingly choose.
I saw your other thread. You are looking for a nice house with an OK commute to Parkland for under $200K right?
I would look in the Royal Lane / Hillcrest area. Nice area, nice homes, and several listing for around $180K to $190K. The commute should be around 30 minutes to Parkland.

GADS! NO! That route is HORRIBLE even in NON rush hour traffic. If there is ANY kind of wreck it is a MAJOR backup. At least a 1/2 dozen times a year the highway is shutdown somewhere along the bridge over the lake and then your stuck for hours.

Those times are the main rush hours, so it would take about 45 minutes on most days. When I lived in Decatur, I used I-35E sometimes to commute to Downtown Dallas, but it does get backed up pretty bad at times. If it was backed up, I would go 114 or 820 to 183. Now I live in Frisco and use the tollway, so it doesn't take me as long.

I made that drive for a few years and it was terrible. On a good day plan on 45 minutes. If it rains you can plan on at least an hour drive. If there is a wreck...and they are often... it can easily turn into a 2 hour drive.

Being that you are a nurse,Doctor of some kind, you will probly leave your house around 6AM so you can be at parkland around 6:45. You should not hit to much traffic that early in the morning. If you leave around 5, Take dinner with you. If you leave around 6 you may get lucky, If you leave around 7 you will be clear all the way.
Starting in a few months, plan on 35 being messed up for a few years. They have passed and will be starting contruction to fix 35 fom 635 to 380. If I was not lazy today I would go find the link. I may go look for it and post it here.
