We all have our favorite restaurants in Dallas. I'd love to hear some of your favorites, as I am going to try to visit some restaurants that I have never been to before this year.
I'd like to share a recommendation with all of you. On Live Oak Street in East Dallas sits a modest building that is home to the Alligator Cafe. They've got some of the best cajun food in the Metroplex in a very casual setting at incredible prices. They've got a musician who plays blues music a few nights a week as well (can't remember what nights, but something tells me it's Thursday and Friday).

Another favorite of mine is Vito's Pizza in Irving. Despite it's name, it's got a full menu. It's not much for atmosphere, but the food more than makes up for that...I'd recommend trying the house dressing on a salad. It's a very unique tomato-based dressing that goes well with their salads.

Finally, Richardson's Chinatown area has a lot of restaurants. I've only eaten at one - Canton Restaurant - but it is very good. Classic Cantonese food served family style (it comes on a big plate, and you scoop the food onto your plate).

There's a pretty cool place on Lemmon at Throckmorton, or sort of set back in a little strip shop place. The name is
Tios Tortas but looks like they're moving. Pretty good Mexican sandwiches. And beer. An unusual sort of place. Hope they move nearby.
