Default Irving TX??

My dh is looking at taking a job in Irving. We would like to live somewhere more rural, but within comuting distance to work and city. We would like an area that is safe, friendly and reasonably prices. We will most likely rent a home at first. We have three girls, but homeschool. Any info about areas clost to Irving and the cost of living would be great. We would be moving from SE NC.

Thanks
Brandie

What part of NC? My grandparents are in Rocky Mount, my mother's in Greenville, and we have distant family from Kenly all the way down to Wilmington.
