Default Info on Sanger?

Does anyone have kids at Sanger? There is some great info on Hexter, but little I can find on Sanger. Greatschools.net mentions being forced into bilingual programs... is that even possible? Is it a bilingual school? I saw it was exemplary, but only just this year, and it has a past history of poor performance.
Anyone have any insight? Thanks!

Sanger Elementary in Dallas ISD? Has 55.7% ESL learners. Has 87.7% low income. It's 80% Hispanic. So I would say it's mostly a bilingual school.

It was possible at Preston Hollow Elementary to get forced into bilingual classes, but I think a court case got it stopped. That school was trying to keep the white classes, the "neighborhood" classes, white, by putting Hispanics in bilingual classes even when they didn't need it. I have never heard that about Sanger, but who knows.

littlewmn - did you ever get the information you needed on Sanger? I live in Casa Linda and my daughter will attend Sanger this fall. Myself and several other neighbors are starting a neighborhood forum and one of the main purposes to get communication out about the local schools. It should be up and running by next week.

Let me know if you'd like the link.

Regarding the dual language program.....yes, Sanger does it. It's called a Dual Language Immersion program. Basically all students are taught 50/50 in English and Spanish regardless of background. Goal is to get all kids fluent in both languages and that's usually achieved by 5th grade. Do a google search on it and you'll find it's highly effective.
Sanger reached Exemplary status last year and previous years has improved every year. It's a great little school. Teachers are fantastic. Problem is getting the "white" parents in the neighborhood to give it a chance and to get involved. We're really trying to change all of that. I'm excited about that school.
