I will be moving to Dallas with my husband, young child and three dogs in March. We will need to rent until we can decide on where to live. He will work in Irving close to DFW and I will most likely be downtown. Any recommendations on where to rent with decent commute that will have a fenced yard, garage and not too expensive? It would only be for 3 to 6 months...

In Dallas:
Plot the intersection of Munger and Abrams. That's a good southern boundary.
Lovers Lane is a good northern boundary.
I-75 (Central Expressway) is a good western boundary.
The lake is a good eastern one.

Burbs:
(H)urst(E)uless(B)edford is another option. Or Arlington.

I would like to stay under 1500 if possible. I could go up higher thougher if I had to, I would like a safe area where I can walk my dogs-I have always been a late night dog walking person!

It would be tough to find a place that would rent for less than a year, or they will ask you to pay a premium.

I would suggest Coppell, Grapevine and Las Colinas/Valley Ranch within Irving.

I second nsumner's suggestions. All of these would be good, safe places, with a reasonable commute.
