Dallas life
I will be moving to dallas in the near future, and i was wondering where could a landscaping business entreprenuer guy like myself live in a safe suburb near a christian church, which city is best place to move to with a family with friendly people? and are the tornadoes and thunder storms deadly in dallas and its suburbs? Being from minnesota idk too much about dallas.
Thanks

In ten words or less, most anything north of I-635, as far as Denton or beyond.
No, the tornadoes and thunder storms in Dallas and suburbs are not deadly. At least, not usually. The thunder storms are, from time to time, quite spectacular. Bring your generator.

You would be okay in just about any suburb, whether it is located north, south, east, or west of Dallas. While we do get our fair share of thunderstorms, a damaging or deadly tornado is still a rarity. I lived through one of the area's most powerful tornadoes that struck in 1994. Even with such an experience, I would still say that it should not be a make or break factor in choosing whether or not to move here. By taking simple precautions such as monitoring media outlets when storms are in the area and purchasing a weather radio that could alert you to severe weather occurring late at night or if power is lost, you'll be fine.
Welcome to Texas!

Yaaaa! You betcha!
First of all, you've got a better chance of winning the lottery before getting hit by a tornado. Although we have those twisters, don't cha know, they are really very far and in between. Yaaaaa.
(I use to vacation up in Crow Wing County north of Brainard).
Other than suggesting where to live in the Dallas area, it's more where not to live. But like Willy suggested, almost anything north of I-635 LBJ Freeway. Actually, I think I'ld move that boundary up to Beltline Road and north. I moved to Plano 18 years ago from the Lakehighlands area of Dallas and that was a good move. Don't cha know? Yaaaaaaaa!

I have a friend who is a landscape architect for a large, successful landscaping company in No. Dallas.....they do mainly new housing developments and commercial properties. Ordinarily they stay almost as busy in the winter as in the summer but this year the work has been very slow......they laid off a large number of staff two weeks ago and asked the remaining people to take a 12% pay cut. Even tho the housing market and the economy are not nearly as damaged here at they are in most areas, there is still a slow-down and most related jobs have been affected. Let's hope it's temporary!!
