Default Commute from Dallas to Tyler

Hi All,

I realize that this is a long drive but I wanted to know what the average commute would be to Tyler from downtown dallas on a normal weekday. I am going to have to do it once a month and I just wanted to prepare myself. thank you so much

About 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

You could always fly. Tyler has daily flights to & from D/FW airport. Tyler Pounds Regional is a VERY nice & modern airport for a town its size. Rental cars are available from most major companies.

There is no reason to fly, especially if he is just going there once a month and it is only about 90 miles. From Dallas to Tyler is about an hour and 40 minutes. You would bge going the opposite direction of traffic, so it wouldn't be that bad.

You obviously don't travel I-20 east of Dallas that much do you? I've seen several instances just lately where traffic is backed up for miles due to a wreck. Also, traffic in Tyler alone can get pretty bad especially on 69 & the loop which are two major thoroughfares.

Right, but I was talking about when the OP is leaving Dallas. He will be going out of dallas, where as most people are coming in(from suburbs east of Dallas) for work.

I have always know I-20 once you get out of the Dallas area to be a pretty fast moving highway heading east.
