Thoughts on Rowlett/Rockwall (Dallas, Garland: houses, new construction, school district)

Depends on LOTS of things, such as: your need for mass transit, price range of your home, kids and desire for good schools, etc.. We live in Rowlett but in the Rockwall school district, which we prefer to Garland ISD which covers most of Rowlett. We love living here and find that the traffic is usually a little better than Rockwall and it's an easier commute to most parts of Dallas and points to the west. Typically, Rockwall homes are more expensive, but unless you're looking for a large selection of homes over $400K, Rowlett will have a wider selection.

What part of town do you work in now. What is your price range. Need a little more information before giving some solid advice.

I say Rockwall, but don't count Heath out, as it is pretty nice. Price range is the thing, and what kind of backyard do you want? Rowlett is cheaper, but is struggling in some places to hold its value. You also have to consider your home purchase, if you end up choosing Rowlett, based on the location of the new construction of 190 that will be starting soon. Beware looking online at houses! you may end up with a freeway in your backyard!
