Default Tut Exhibit

Anybody seen it? What did you think?

Do you need advance tickets on a weekday or can you get them at the door? We're thinking of going St Patrick's week.

Has anyone taken the Express Shuttle from NorthPark? Do you need advance tickets? How long does it take to get to the Exhibition?

Thanks!

My wife and I parked in the Meyerson underground parking lot and walked over in the middle of the week - while we did get advanced tickets, we certainly didn't need them since we went while everyone was at work.

I went and saw it and wasn't all that impressed. We rode the dart train from Plano and walked to the museum from the dart stop. Pretty good experience on the dart rail.

The exhibit itself is billed as King Tut, but they don't even have King Tut's sarcophagus like they show in the pictures. This one:

What they do have is a sarcophagus from someone who may have been related to him. Many of the artifacts aren't even directly related to Tut, they're from other graves or people who may or may not have been related to him. I felt a little deceived because the DMA is presenting it like it's all about Tut when it's really not. I'd say it's about 1/3 to 1/4 Tut and the rest is just other Egyptian artifacts. If you just want to see Egyptian artifacts then I guess it's fine.

I would suggest buying tickets in advance because they let people in on a schedule. I think it's every 30 minutes. If you went up and tried to buy a ticket and all of the slots were taken you might have to wait a while.

It all depends on what you expect. I expected the sarcophagus and more material from the tomb itself. Instead there is a boat load of really impressive stuff from other tombs and then a sudden end without any sarcophagus of tut. The great big pictures they are advertising with is a blow up of a close up of a small statuette.
Be aware that you will be herded through fast. The groups go in at set times but you soon have the next group treading on your heels
I did not think the voice tour added anything major to the tour so save your money and read the signs describing each item.

I heard from a couple of neighbors that it's not worth going. I was really looking forward to going but they said save your money. This is what I overheard some other people in line at the grocery as well.

Not worth it. Especially with the added price of art parking that has skyrocketed. I think i'd rather hit up the Dallas arboretum while the current good weather days last.
