Cowboy Boots
Howdy all,
In my visit to Dallas, I wanna get me one of my own authentic cowboy boots and I am not talking big name brand you can find anywhere in the US but a homegrown variety you can only find here. Any tips?
Thanks,
J

I don't think they'll sell you just one. You'll probably have to pony up for the pair.

Roma's custom boots, on the corner of Northwest hwy and midway. I have a couple of pairs from there, can't beat them for the price.

M L Leddys in the Ft Worth Stockyards, boots are made in San Angelo. More expensive but worth it, and they are well known. Rodney Ammons store is located in Saks Fifth Ave in the Galleria, his shop is in El Paso. I have three pair from Leddys and five pair from Ammons. They are fine boots. Not familiar with Roma's, but I've seen some boots made by Rameriz on Jefferson in South Dallas, he has been there for 25 years. They are okay. His prices seem reasonable.
Dallas hasn't had a well known & master bootmaker since Henry Leopold of Garland past away in the mid 1980s.

When did Albert's Western Wear go out of business? I remember they had opened a store at Red Bird Mall in the 70's.

I was going to recommend ML Leddy's, too.
I know it is a mass-produced brand, but you really can't go wrong with Lucchese boots. There are many reasons they are so popular. These are not cheap boots (usually about $350 a pair) but they are often made form exotic skins and they will last a long time. My husband has a pair of kangaroo ones and he loves them.

ML Leddy's does have a lot of "stock" boots for sale on their shelves. If you like them, they fit and you can afford them you can take them home with you.

I'm not familiar with that store, but it has been the trend in Dallas for several years. Cutter Bills, Western Warehouse/Boot Town, Wild West, etc are all history. There also was a Luskey's on Forest Lane many years ago.

I remember Luskey's. Albert's was originally in Oak Cliff, I don't remember the street, and moved into Red Bird when it opened.
