The public schools have weekly Klan rallies on Friday, it's state law. Jews are allowed but only 'cause sometimes Texans get a little crazy, shoot out the street lights and need a lawyer to get 'em out of jail. Texans like Jew lawyers. They like Blacks and Mexicans too. Somebody's gotta clean the houses and mow the lawns! And Asians? Texans love that oriental food!. Anyways, good luck in your new home down in the C.S.A.!
Wow! Thanks rb4browns. This sounds like paradise! Maybe you can help me iron out a few details.

Where am I going to deal my drugs?? Where am I going to practice my drive-by shooting?? What's the best liquor store to buy my cases of Malt Liquor from?? I gotta have at least 5 women to knock up so I can get them all put on welfare. I gotta have them checks every month, ya know! I wouldn't dream of getting a job. Maybe you can tell me where to get the best Gold Fronts...gotta have that winning smile when I hit town. Can't wait to get there!

Sloroller I don't know what your budget is but the Kessler Park/Stevens Park area is a place you should check out. It is a oasis in the inner city and would put you pretty close to work. Check it out on your scouting adventures.

No I disagree. Houston and Dallas are major cities with far more to offer. Austin is a village.

As I mentioned in a different thread, another major difference I see in Dallas as opposed to the bay area is the lack of general awareness about the environment. I care a lot about the environment and global warming and so there are a bunch of things I find very unappealing:

1. lack of recycling options in Irving apartments... my apt is only 3 years old and its hard to forgive the management when they don't consider recycling in this day and age... quite appalling..
2. don't understand why they don't have sidewalks in many areas even close to parks...
3. the bigger and newer mentality when buying a house seems very different that what I'm used to (nobody calls houses in the bay area "pre-owned", almost every house is)...
4. just WAY too many trucks and pickups... don't think everyone needs this sort of transportation options all the time...

I guess Sierra Club needs to be a little more active here and needs to organize some awareness drives.. Sometimes, I get the feeling I've moved back in time 20 years or so...

Late to the party on this, but...

1. lack of recycling options in Irving apartments... my apt is only 3 years old and its hard to forgive the management when they don't consider recycling in this day and age... quite appalling..
Gee, if it was so important to you then why didn't you inquire prior to moving in? And here's a bulletin: You can move.

2. don't understand why they don't have sidewalks in many areas even close to parks...
I'll plead ignorant on this one since I don't fully understand what you're saying. But are you incapable of traversing over dirt or asphalt?

3. the bigger and newer mentality when buying a house seems very different that what I'm used to (nobody calls houses in the bay area "pre-owned", almost every house is)...
Again, not quite tracking you. But if you're implying that "bigger and newer" isn't a "mentality" that exists in the Bay Area, then you are either naive or dishonest.

4. just WAY too many trucks and pickups... don't think everyone needs this sort of transportation options all the time..
I see, so now you're the arbiter of the transportation choices people should make.

While you're expending all this "energy" with your concern for Ma Earth, perhaps you can explain how previous Ice Ages ended before all these horrible "trucks and pickups" made the scene. Oh yeah, also before man even exhaled his first molecule of CO2.

I'm born/raised/live in the Bay Area. You exhibit those very same smug and pretentious traits that I see and hear every day. The same attitude and platitudes that often make me start thinking real hard about moving. It's too bad there are people like you everywhere, but at least in Texas there's a whole lot less than here.
