Texas law still has no protection against people being fired just because they are GLBT. Dallas is pretty accepting, so it is much less likely to happen here than in some podunk town. But, legally, there is nothing preventing it from happening. I suppose firing someone for being GLBT is more prevalent in some industries than in others. For instance, there are lots of gays in design, architecture, real estate, fashion, food & beverage, entertainment, medicine, law, the Catholic Church, etc....but none in the US Military. Oh wait

Sure, lots of them. AMR (American Airlines), Wyndam Hotels and JC Penney are just a few of the Dallas area companies that have the HRC seal of approval. Exxon/Mobil & Perot Systems are not on that list. Good luck finding a job in this economy though.

I always assumed that companies would do whatever was in their best, most-profitable self-interest. Then after working a string of blue collar jobs I learned that there are people who will preserve the good-ole-boy network even when it costs them money to do so.

I have seen many folks mistreated and mocked at work based on their race, national origin, gender, sexual preference, and religion. To be fair, I have not seen anyone fired for this reason.

I'm not sure what it is that you find funny about JC Penney being on the list of GLBT friendly employers with corporate HQ in the DFW area. If you don't believe that, then check this out:
