Hi everyone,

I will be relocating within 3 weeks to begin a job in Dallas. I am a long time Houstonian (43 years in Houston) and am hoping to find a wine store comparable to our Specs in Houston. There are no Specs in Dallas however are there any great liquor stores in Dallas that sell wines from all over the world?

Spec's is the largest liquor store in the country, I think.
If there's not a branch location in Dallas, not sure you'll find anything quite like it. Another great invention out of Houston...

Spec's is only in Houston, Austin, Round Rock and College Station. SPEC's Liquors Online: Wines, Spirits, Cigars and Finer Foods

I find it hard to believe that Dallas does not have anything remotely close to what Specs offers...I'm sure Dallas does.

Actually I think sxrckr has it right. I don't think you will find anything like Specs in Dallas. You could probably fit three or maybe four of the larger type liquor stores in Dallas inside a single Specs store. However, that doesn't mean you won't be able to find all of the wines that you need in Dallas. You just might have to make two stops instead of one.

I haven't been to a Spec's but some of the Sigel's (www.sigels.com) are pretty big, especially the newer one on Fitzhugh near Highland Park.

Nothing against Sigel's but you have to experience a Spec's, or at least the downtown Houston Spec's to understand. The old downtown Spec's was interesting, but the new one is 80,000 SQ FT.

That's a Texas size Liquor store in anyone's book.

There is a Spec's location planned for Dallas @75 and Walnut Hill Ln. The closest thing now is Beverage Depot. They have a great selection and A LOT better prices

If what you are looking for is a place to find a great wine selection, there are lots of those in Dallas.

Specs is more like a superstore of liquor. In Dallas we have lots of smaller ones all over the place. Finding any kind of alcohol shouldnt be a problem.

Central Market has wine from all over the world. Not as big of a selection as Spec's, but they do have it.

Supposedly this is going to open on the 19th. I have been seeing Spec's commercials recently as well.
