Moving from Florida to Dallas
I want to move to Dallas in the middle of May beginning of June. I am a recent graduate of the University of Florida (graduated early in December), but otherwise grew up in South Florida. I have applied to some graduate schools in the area/am looking for jobs there. I really don't know anyone other than a couple people I met when I was visiting in December that live there. I am a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, however, and am looking to make a change from Florida. I was either planning on moving to NY or Dallas (I know there is a big difference), but I really hate the cold, which is more severe in NY. I know the Uptown area is really nice, that is where we stayed when I was there for the football game in December. However, I wanted some advice on moving. I am a 22 year old, single, female so I would still like to go out and enjoy my 20s, but other than people I will meet from school I really don't know anyone there. Thanks! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Uptown, Downtown, Knox-Henderson and Lower Greenville (both near SMU) would be best for someone your age. All different housing options in those areas.

I moved from Florida (Tampa) to Dallas (Southlake) in high school. I loved both states and still do 8 years later! Where you live depends on where you go to school. The colleges in DFW are so spread out from one another. If you are for sure going back to school in the fall, and receive your acceptance before you move, I would say message people on facebook from that school and ask them where grad students live.
Taking the college factor out, I would say live downtown or in Addison for the social benefits.

I moved from Florida in December of 06 for work. I am a graduate from the University of Central Florida. You'll like Dallas. It is a little bit colder here but it isnt so bad. I do miss the ocean though.

I miss the ocean!! and the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Miami.
Dallas is a whole new story. Make sure your apartment has a pool.
Make sure to appreciate country music and culture.
Its a great city to live. Very convenient.
People are friendly too...
Welcome.

I have also just moved from SW FL to Frisco (just north of Dallas) and we love it! Yes, we miss being near the water year-round, but I'm sure looking forward to warmer weather when I can get to some of these nice lakes around here! We live close to everything and everyone is very nice/friendly.
