I'm fine with it. I think I was #80,112.

Seriously though, it seems a little crazy. I brought 3 of my daughters down here from WA over winter break. At the middle school, one of them was the 5th new student registered the day the kids returned to school. At the high school, my oldest was the 7th new student registered that day. They told me most came from out of state.

And what do 1-4 all have in common????

LOW cost of living.

Long as that stays the same... people will go to where they can afford.

But anyone notice that cities 1-4 also have one of the highest crimes rate in all the US. Outside of St. Louis and Detriot.... those are pretty much up there. Guess that comes with growth.

Also, can anyone in 1-4 say SPRAWL?

DFW is an economic and transportation unit. The Federal Govt divides a metro into divisions mostly to appease the egos of places like Fort Worth, but the Fort Worth division has no other reality.

The Feds consider Tarrant County (FW) a commuter suburb of DFW, and as such cannot have an independent econnomic existence. Thus, any population growth in Tarrant county is a consequence of job growth and economic strength in the entire metro.

According to the FBI website, there is no correlation between a municipality's crime rate and the amount of crime. Different municipalities have dissimilar definitions of crime, different recording practices, and different report rates from victims.

DWong, I caught you in a lie. You did not notice what you claimed to notice, because the subject is metro areas. The FBI does not list crimes by metro.

In fact, the FBI does not calculate crime rates, nor does it publish them on their website.

It would be physically impossible to calculate a crime rate for Dallas municipality, since it is impossible to know how many people are physically present in Dallas at any particular time.

No, the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) has a larger population than that of Atlanta, Phoenix, and Houston. Metropolitian Divisions (MD) are simply a subdivision of the larger metropolitan area that often functions as a distinct social, economic, and cultural area within the larger region.

The Census Bureau uses the term metropolitan division to refer to a county or group of closely-tied contiguous counties that serve as a distinct employment region within a metropolitan statistical area that has a population core of at least 2.5 million. Other MSAs with Metropolitan Divisions include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Washington D.C., Boston, Detroit, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Dallas is Dallas and Ft.Worth is Ft.Worth, each with thier own indentity and history, and to suggest that some goofey governmental statistical compilation alters that in any way is just plain silly.
