I paid for my car in cash in 2001 in CA. How do I get proof of "sales tax payment"?

We just moved from NJ...I had a small ding on my windshield but it passed...all together the cost was a bit high...you have to get it inspected first...then register it at your county office (the one I was at took credit card or cash...2% fee for using card though)...it was 380 to register both cars...another 80 to get the inspection (went to jiffy lube for this) and another 24 to get the license...they took only cash or check (they will take an out of state check)...so with 2 cars figure close to $500

You will need your registration paperwork to get your license...they will give you a temp id as it is takinng about 4-6 weeks to get the new texas drivers licenses....

Good luck
