Dallas Police - The Moats incident
I have to write about this incindent. And wonder how many other Dallasites are as appalled and disgusted as I am.
How can we hire this kinds of jerks (i said crook originally sorry) and place them as Dallas Police officers. I think its intolerable.
Wonder how others feel about this situation that happened in our city.

I'm not sure the word "crook" is appropriate. "Jerk", yes.
In the DMN article, Moats' wife is quoted as saying something along the lines of "You could see he didn't care about us at all". Since the video shows her running into the hospital immediately upon arrival, I don't see how she could make that determination.
Moats had a lot more patience for this idiot than I would have. I would have just walked into the hospital and dared him to arrest me. Then again, I'm not black.
I think the hospital staff, especially the guards, should have taken control of the situation and told the Dallas officer to get stuffed. He wasn't even in Dallas city limits. The Plano officer present towards the end of the incident also could have grabbed the command.
Anyway, Bozo is sure to get fired over this.

I watched that report last night too. I just couldn't believe how insensitive that DP officer was, even with the nurse and a Plano PD officer pleading for a little sensitivity. I personally know several DPD officers and I know those friends of mine on the force wouldn't be such an A.. H.... That officer has issues. My opinion.

With such clear evidence of poor judgment under pressure, removing this officer from the force now will go a long way toward preventing him from making a catastrophic decision in the future.

While Kunkle's response seemed overwhelmingly apologetic I would sure like to know why he isn't at home on Administrative Leave or something, instead of reassigned to dispatch??? I wouldn't want him handling my emergency!

Cosign. What I saw was a officer who was abusing his power. He should be removed from the force because is judgement was beyond poor.

Not only should he be removed, but I would highly recommend to the Moats family to sue the officer personally and the Dept.
As we all know, lessons sometimes are not learned until monetary damages leave the sting and the scar.

Just absolutely appalling and embarrassing to watch. Department policy probably requires placing the jerk on administrative leave, but when they fire his sorry **s, he should at least be fined an equal amount so that the citizens don't end up paying him for taking a two week (or however long) vacation.
Sadly, as disgusting as this situation is, this guy is not alone, he just happened to get caught. By and large, most LEOs (law enforcement officers) across the country are worthy of our thanks and support for doing a tough job for relatively small pay. But there are way too many LEOs that have no business carrying a badge or patrolling our streets. But few of these stories manage to get the kind of "legs" this story has generated, and the issue is quietly, and locally, quashed.

Hopefully for all of the other officers that act as he did will change their attitude to taking advantage of abusing their power as an officer on others as well, because he isn't the only one that has done it, he's the only one that got caught on tape doing it.

I think the tattoo on Office Powell's left arm might say how he approaches his job. Is he a police officer for the power over people it gives him or "To serve and protect"?
