There's really no reason what so ever to *not* consider a salt system this day and age.
Salt is a naturally occurring by-product of human beings swimming in the pool, why not use a process that breaks down those salts and uses them for beneficial chlorine If you're adding chlorine to your pool anyway? You'll find a certain amount of salt in any pool and even with a SWG system, the salt levels are so small the water can't actually be considered "salt water" but it's easier terminology that way.

I maintain several pools and all of them have been converted to salt, I can't imagine having to go back to hand adding harsh chemicals again. I don't miss those days either. I might even steer clear of a service man that recommends not using a salt system, maybe he's making his money selling chemicals.....

Actually the antiseptic qualities of salt on the skin and mucous membranes has been used for a looooong time. Salt-baths are frequently used to treat psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema as well as arthritis. Often used with a UV treatment.

So if you are in a saline pool (not a salt-bath per se since the levels are quite different, but it still has the salt) and in the sun's natural UVA/B rays...you will see the same benefits.
