Default I'm coming to Arlington-what should I wear w/heat & cold

Hello. My husband and I are going to be moving to Arlington this summer from L.A. What do you wear in such heat and humidity, as well as, your cold winters? Weather in Cali is pretty moderate, not too hot, not too cold, the entire year. Anyone care to advise? Thanks so much.

The summer clothing here is pretty much the same as LA, you just don't spend nearly the same amount of time outside. Shorts, short-sleeved shirts, tank tops, etc. The lighter the fabric and color the better. Black t-shirts in the summer sun = no joy.

During the winter it routinely gets into the 30s and 40s here, but winters aren't really _that_ cold. It hasn't been below zero here in almost 20 years.

Sweaters, slacks, and 2 winter coats - one heavy (you'll wear twice a year if you're lucky) and a moderately heavy one.

You won't need anything like winter boots or a snowsuit but a hat and gloves/mittens (again only a handful of times a year) will come in handy.

In the heat of the summer, you will want to wear as little as possible. Sandels, not tennis shoes and socks. Light colored, loose fitting cotton clothes. Shorts or little skirts. No hose. Then when you go into air conditioning, you might need a jacket.

You can get by in the winter without a heavy winter coat if you want. There are only a few days of super cold weather.

You can start tracking the weather on www.WeatherBug.com or www.weather.com before you move.

I like WeatherBug b/c the icon in the bottom tray will flash when there's a change, to alert you and if it's severe weather, the icon turns red. WeatherBug provides meteorolgical data to the weather stations. There's a free version and a paid version (maybe $20/yr). They have TONS of stations set up and you put in your zip code and select the one nearest to you.
