Default Is it too late to plant fruit trees in north dallas?

I called calloways and they said it was too late to pant fruit trees now and should be planted in jan and feb. Is that true or do I still have time?
If I do plant is there a good chance it won't survive?

You may not get fruit this year but it is not to late to plant a fruit tree. Infact early spring is a great time. I like Calloway but sounds to me someone gave you bad information.

It will still survive, but there is no way you will get fruit if the tree is big enough to bear fruit, this year.

The way I understand it, the reason why they say to plant in the fall is so that your tree will develope a strong root system by summer drought time. You can plant in the spring, just make sure to water regularly and don't rely on a sprinkler system. Good luck!
