There are a lot of college students who stay in a group of complexes called the village. There are plenty of apartments in the area that will put you within walking distance of everything. Just be sure you pick something south of North West Highway. The neighborhood gets really bad once you crossover this border.

Thanks grinraiser. Just wondering are you from this area? You think of possible to find a good place in a good area?... my range is $400-$600. The village looks nice but I think I wont be able to find a place at that rate. Do you recommend any other places? or areas?
Thanks..

You're not going to find anywhere decent in that price range. You need to be able to spend at least $800 (IMHO) to find somewhere that is SAFE.
Be VERY careful about apartments in the Vickery Meadows/Five Points are which isn't too far away from The Village. This area is off Shady Brook Lane. VERY HIGH CRIME and lots of low-income housing. You do NOT want to live there!!

Try south of the Village, south of Lover's Lane - off E. University -- Sandhurst, Birchbrook etc. Free SMU and DART shuttle bus. Affordable, safe and a good mixture of old, new, expensive, condos, long time tenants, students etc. You can actually walk from there..

I lived in "The Bend-East" when I lived in The Villages ( TheVillageApts.com | Communities Page was my floorplan). One hidden benefit of The Villages - they have relatively efficient (for apartments) air conditioners and excellent maintenance staff if you have issues. They also sub meter your electric and pass on the commercial rates they get - which means you save some serious money on heating/cooling bills compared to many apartments around. I want to say my PEAK electric bill for my 1st floor unit was about $55/month. If you're trying to keep your costs down, make sure to ask what the average electric bill is on the unit you're looking to get - some places can be outrageous (I had a 1,000 sq ft 3rd floor place in a "newer" complex up in Plano that I had $300+ bills in the summer).

And there are lots of wonderful trees in The Village. The landscaping is beautiful -- the tulips are at their peak right now -- just drive down Southwestern and check it out.

Yup, I recommend The Village as well. The area is a good value, and a fun, young place to live.
