I came from Richmond, so similar climate to DC... and yes, it's quite humid there. If I were to rate Orlando a 10 and DC a 7, Dallas would be a 4 for humidity.
At least last summer it got HOT here... but I found after about a week I just got used to it. The sun seems a bit more powerful here versus the DC area, so shade helps a whole lot. The weather right now though is gorgeous

Windier and So Much Hotter...
I've lived in Chicago, Atlanta and Tampa...and Dallas has by far the worse and most miserable summer's I've ever experienced. When people here say "less humidity"...o.k., I'll take humidity over 4 months of 95+ heat (and it never, ever goes down at night...or have a "cool front" go through). It's miserable here...(obviously I'm not a Dallas fan). And, Chicago's "windy" reputation had nothing to do with weather...it was about the "windy" politicians (blowhards...). Dallas is so much windier than Chicago (weather wise) and like someone else posted, not in the summer when it's needed most.

Miserable is a very subjective term

With all the rain we've had recently, I expect a dramatic increase in the humidity this year from last. However, I've been told by many that have lived here years that once most of the green burns off (i.e. stuff dies) and it goes back to being drier again, humidity decreases to normal levels.
We'll see. Last year when I was here it felt like Palm Springs.
It's definitely nicer looking here now that everything is so lush and green.
I grew up on the East Coast where you sneakers would fill up with sweat in less than 30 mins in August. I find it hard to believe Summers annywhere are worse than the East Coast. The weather is miserable there and the Winters are brutal. Winters here are really mild from what I've seen.
One upside to humidity is that it seems to do wonders for the skin/sinuses.

Coming from CA, Dallas area is much more windy than anything I experienced out there--especially this last week! =)
