Default Need help relocating to Argyle/Highland Village/Corinth/Shady Shores!!

We are relocating from East Texas and are interested in buying a home in the Argyle/Highland Village/Corinth/Shady Shores/Hickory Creek/Copper Canyon areas. My husband will be working in Corinth, so our home needs to be accessible to that city.

Can anyone share info on school districts in those areas?

Is housing affordable there? What about taxes? Our price range is up to $350k. We have a bunch of kids, so need at least a 2750SF house, and a sizable yard (around .3 would be great!), preferably with trees.

Can anyone refer me to a good realtor that really knows the area, and will represent a buyer fairly? Please message me privately if you have a good personal recommendation!

Any info that you think would be of value to us would be greatly appreciated!!!

For the best schools, you'd probably want to be in Lewisville ISD, which would be Highland Village or Copper Canyon. For young kids, a great neighborhood/area is Lantana, which is a little bit farther East than Copper Canyon. Tons of young kids in these neighborhoods - really good elementary and middle, but high school (Guyer, which is a Denton ISD high school) could be better. If you think you'll be staying for kids in high school, then you'd be better off in LISD. I wouldn't be happy with the schools in Argyle, Corinth, or Hickory Creek.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice!!

Another question - is the railroad that runs through Highland Village/Copper Canyon, etc. active?

I live in Lantana, it has its own on-site elementary and middle schools.

Agree about LISD, go with either north Flower Mound or Lantana.

Lantana is pretty cool, tons of nice houses int eh $350K range, beautifully done area. Lots of kids and activities and very convenient to Corinth.

You can also check out Bridlewood and Tour 18, that area, off 1171. It;s in Flower Mound, but it would only add maybe 5 minutes to his commute, and some great houses in that area as well, with the added benefit of attending Flower Mound schools, which are excellent.

We have looked hard in Lantana, but every house we find runs at least 9K in property taxes!

That's the whole area. It's all going to be around a 2.5% property tax rate, regardless of where you move.

You can find a house that you want for less than $350K though, which will cut your property tax bill.

The interesting thing I see in Lantana is that the tax office has the houses appraised for MORE than the listing price! I wonder if you can contest the appraisal value based on market value once you purchase a home.

Tour 18 would be way out of your price range. They start in the $800s and go up. Most of the neighborhood feeds into Argyle schools.

Lantana has so many rules about their HOA, you might want to think twice about that place. The school in Lantana are part of Denton ISD. I know this for sure. They bus the kids from Country Lakes which is part of Denton and they bus the kids from copper canyon and a small part of flower mound and to the school around Lantana. LISD is good but the high school in lewisville is one to stay away from. If you want a little land and breathing room, Argyle is the place for you. They do have a few places in Highland Village and FlowerMound but not sure about the price range. Argyle has tress, part of copper canyon have nice old houses with tress which is very nice too.

I did.

It wasn't that hard, took about 20 minutes. I just shows them my purchase papers and the selling price and got it knocked down. It's always that way in most cities around here.
