kinda depends on what you like. I'm biased. Let me warn you to begin with. I live in 75025 and like it. The neighborhood is attractive with more mature trees etc. I work in Frisco. So I know a little about that too. Like others have said, you would really have to look at a lot of factors, one being quality of the builder in my opinion. (Some older homes may have more repair issues, but some newer ones may not be as well built as the older one to begin with.) For me, I prefer Plano. For someone younger who wanted to be really close to a mall and lots of amenities etc., Frisco might be more the ticket. What do you want?

babyface20 is on a distinguished road
Thanks for all your input.

I currently rent in west Plano and love the Plano area and the schools. I also work in Plano and love the short commute. I don't like to drive a very long distance to get to the nearest grocery store or gas station.
The reason I am considering Frisco is the newer homes which are very tempting.
I guess I am just looking for a strong reason to choose an older house over a new/newer one.

Sounds like the fact that you like the area should be your strong enough reason IMO. As I posted earlier, I currently live in Plano and work in Frisco. I personally prefer Plano. I'm not sure there is any big issue to base your decision on here other than your personal preference. Repairs might be an issue in an older home as I posted earlier. We live in 75025 in a home valued at about 260,000, built in about 1992 and we have personally not had any real repair issues other than replacing an a/c unit. I don't know if that is typical or not. Now we did rent a couple of houses here in Plano for a few years which were built in about 1968, 1970 and we DID have some rather numerous repair issues there.

Again, I think you have to balance is a new home more important to you or is the area more important?

A house built in 1993 is that what I would consider old. I would take a look at the A/C unit and see what items need to be updated. My house was built in 1996 and I expect the A/C unit to give out any summer now. I did have some brass fixtures that needed updating but other than that i'm good. I guess it would be choice between a home with some character or something more updated. It's all personal preference IMHO.
