New Townhouses in Knox/West Village?
My husband and I are new to Dallas, recently moved here from Washington DC. We are in our late 20s/early 30s, and are looking to purchase a townhome in the Knox/Henderson or West Village areas. Does anyone know of good townhomes in the area? I know there are some pockets of slightly questionable areas, we def. want to avoid that. We're looking for a 3 bedroom place with a 2 car garage. We like "contemporary"/"modern" design stuff so are looking for a newer built place.
Also, what would the commute be like from here to Garland (near Jupiter & Miller)?

Knox/Henderson and the West Village area along with State/Thomas have all been just about completely gentrified so I'm not sure of any slightly questionable areas unless a few of the remaining apartment buildings that were built in the 60s and 70s qualify as such.
I'm pretty sure that anything you find in those areas with a 3 bed 2 car garage are going to built after 1996 and most will be after 2001 so you will have the modern/contemporary design you are looking for.
What is your budget?

You should have no problems. Just do a search in zipcode 75204. I'm not sure if you will find brand new construction for under $400,000 that meets your criteria, but there are a number of townhomes built in the last 5 to 10 years for less than $400,000 that meet your needs.
I would think the commute to Jupiter and Miller would be between 20 and 30 minutes depending on time of day.

cityconvo is giving good advice - you might also try 75206. Not as trendy or architecturally significant (generally) but there is some new construction with some good deals around Lower Greenville and Henderson. If you don't take Central Expressway (75) to NW Highway (Loop 12) to Jupiter/Miller you can go the back way up Skillman to work from this zip.

The Miro Place townhomes (3372 Miro Place) would probably fit your bill.

There are tons of townhomes in your price range in the area. I live a few blocks away.
Recommend looking at some of the original CityHome complexes built in the late 90s. These have the best reputation for being quality builds. I believe Miro Place is included in that group- they are very nice! If you like modern, the white Ogelsbys on Travis and Buena Vista are fantastic!!
Things to think about:
If you live on McKinney or Cole, consider looking at the 2nd or 3rd row of townhomes, so it's quieter than being on the main drag.
Buena Vista is my very favorite street in the area- backs to the Katy Trail and most people don't realize it's there!
FYI- if you look on McKinney north of Fitzhugh, be aware that the condos/ townhomes on the 2nd block I think share an alley (which is the main entrance) to an abortion clinic. I don't know your thoughts on that matter, but several friends were unaware of the proximity while condo shopping & wish their agent had told them.
