Default Moving to Gunter or Cedar Hill?

It's me again...

My husband and I have a opportunity to get out of a timeshare and buy property with the timeshare equity. We picked out a lot within a gated community within the Lake Ridge at Joe Pool Lake Community. The lot is technically in Grand Praire.

We also have the option of buyer in Gunter, Tx. I did not like the flat landscape of Gunter, Lakeridge is much nicer. However, Gunter has lower taxes, better schools. The Bluegreen Golf Community will have a pool and parks, however, this community is in the beginning stages. If the decision was for investment purposes only, I think Gunter would win.

We are looking to relocate from the Chicagoland suburbs. We are looking to build a $300,000 ish home on a vacant lot.

You have helped educate me on the North Dallas vs South Dallas.

Please share your wisdom with regard to living with a higher end gated community in Grand Praire/Cedar Hill (Lake Ridge) vs Gunter.

Any insight would be appreciated, I need to make a decsion within a few days. This decision is driving me nuts.

Thanks.

I'd go with Lakeridge hands down. Better landscape, beautiful location in a major metropolitan area, ample amenities (entertainment, shopping, restaurants, etc.) nearby. There is also a larger choice of public and private schools. With the economy and housing market the way it is, it may be years before the community in Gunter is fully complete. I would, however, go with Gunter if you desire a country setting far from the threat of future urban sprawl.

lakeridge hands down.

lake, topography, gated community and surrounded by wealth..

that mix should protect your property value

go with gunter if you really want a country feel.. everything will be a good drive away so you won't have easy access to shopping, dining etc..

in lakeridge you will feel the privacy of a secluded area that is just a small drive away from your conveniences

good luck-- go with lakeridge
