Sounds like it could be tied to Cartel activity?

and what leads you to this mass generalization? because it was in front of a mexican resturant?

No where have the ages or races of the suspects or victums been stated.

Don't paint me as a racist...you might want to check my posting history first. In fact, I lived in South Texas for almost 20 years, and have been to Northern Mexico several times (and it breaks my heart to see Mexico in all the turmoil they are in right now). I am of partial Mexican ancestry (about 25%).

What led me to that assumption was the following:

1) It has been stated on CNN.com that it is believed that Los Zetas are in Dallas and Houston. Link: Police: U.S. teens were hit men for Mexican cartel - CNN.com

2) The usage of AK-47s is not characteristic of our typical Dallas street gangs, but is characteristic of the cartel wars in northern Mexico.

By the way, 5stones, what led you to the generalization that my statement was racially charged in some way?

i never said it was....

The use of the word CARTEL inferrs it was was mexican drug related.

Gang related I believe so yes.
but people have been hyping up the mexcian drug CARTEL dealing in dallas. Most of the CARTEL violence is still in mexico and the boarder towns.

I was taking umbrige with the chicken little cry of CARTEL.

I agree that most of the "Cartel" violence is still in Mexico. I do not believe that "cartel" violence is a significant enough problem in Dallas to deter anyone from living in this great city. However, one cannot deny that the characteristics of this crime are similar to the characteristics of the Mexican drug wars. Piecing that together with the (admittedly questionable) intelligence that at least one of these cartels has operatives in the Dallas area leads to a reasonable SUSPICION that this is related to cartel violence...and if you read my initial post, you would see that I am not claiming that it is cartel-related, but instead simply suggesting it as a possibility (and, in my mind, the strongest possibility, considering the use of AK-47s and such).

Anyone who believes that the drug cartel violence is only in Mexico and near its borders needs to get out more. It is out there all over the U.S. Here is just one small snippet of how far it has gone in this country.

This was in Alabama. A lot further from the Mexican border than Dallas is and yet has seen it firsthand.

Yep. Dallas is also a major distribution center for the drugs. Having said that, I don't worry too much about it here, these people are out to kill each other, not me. We've had questions on the board regarding safety in Dallas due to Texas being a border state, honestly I don't worry about it. If I lived in a crappy neighborhood and/or associated with drug lords, it'd be a different story.

EXACTLY! I'm not out cruising the streets at 3 am w/ a jacked up car and flashing gang signs and stiffing my drug supplier. If I were to live that lifestyle THEN I'd be worried. If your the type that wants to run fast and live dangerously and dabble in drugs w/ the wrong crowd.......... it ain't gonna matter WHERE you are in this country. Trouble will find you.
