Photo Tour: The Beauty Found in the Layers and History of Downtown Dallas
Photo Tour: The Beauty Found in the Layers and History of Downtown Dallas
My third and final thread of my trip to Dallas last month is of the downtown core. Though not heavily populated with actual residents and more so business folk, it is changing even from one year ago when I visited. A few of the historic Art Deco gems have now been converted to residential units (apartments and condos). This change was great to see as there is so much living potential in the core. Here is what I found pleasing visually in the many layers and textures of the wonderful city called Dallas. Sorry I didn’t have time to fix or touch up shots, they are in RAW format.
If you liked what you saw, feel free to add to my rep points. It is encouragement to post more photos of my future trips to the DFW area. Thanks again to those who gave me some wonderful advice for this visit! Here are the other two threads I posted from the same trip.

Woohoo! The next installment!
I tried to rep you, but gotta spread it around first, so consider yourself virtual-repped.
Awesome, innovative shots, as usual. I love how you catch the different angle of your location shots. Dallas has been fortunate in having developers that understood the importance of Architecture and you really caught the details.
BTW to other readers - start at the top and hold down the scrollkey to do a quick scan. Some of the shots create a really cool headrush!

The essences, characters of these buildings are captured.
I know that when these collections tip up occasionally on the Dallas forum, they're really worth looking at. Nice too to know that there are more than a few pigeon appreciators around. Great bird photos. The line up on Thanksgiving Square was hilarious.

Great shots as always! Thanks for posting once again. BTW, I halfway expected to see a shot of the pool at the Hotel Joule. It's located on Main St. across from Stone Street Gardens and the rooftop pool juts out about 10 feet over the sidewalk so it is visible from below. It has a glass wall through which you can see the water. Really cool! Any plans to return and photograph more of Dallas?

It was a Saturday morning and incredible quiet in Thanksgiving Square when I was there. The pegions ruled the whole place and you could hear their purring/gurgling sounds all over the place. Better then last year, I was chased by a homeless whack and had to dive into the chapel there to avoid him. I like them but in NYC they refer to them as 'flying rats.'

I did see it last year but only had a point and shoot camera with me then. At first I though it was just a balcony, until I saw the front side. Cool but a little much for my comfort level. Kind of like the new observation bridge in the Grand Canyon.
I don't have any current plans for a return but I am usually there once or twice a year, mostly Fort Worth.

I was doing that some already. There is one shot of the InterFirst Bank Building (that is what I call it since I worked for InterFirst ) but it is the "green" lit building. If you scroll thru it either up or down it is TOTALLY COOL!!! Looks as almost if it were just lines that were made to get closer together and smaller or further apart and right at you.
