One more vote for Babe's. They have several other main dishes, but the Chicken Fried Steak is so good, I can never bring myself to try them. The sides are from heaven. I think we're making a run to Babe's very soon.

Sadly the place went out of business some years ago. I wish I could remember the name of it but I can't. I was a place like Mama's and daughters. I go to Babes when I want comfort food. Be aware that the portions are huge.

Matt's Rancho Martinez in lakewood. Cowboy style or bob armstrong style, both are great.

You must be referring to Gennie's Bishop Grill. Sadly, they didn't go out of business, but actually closed down due to the owners getting up in years and wanting to retire. That was a sad day.
Here's how they made it, so if you have a cast iron skillet and some time to practice, maybe you can come close.

Haven't been to Babe's yet but I have been to Ozona Grill and Bar on Greenville.
But Mary's in Strawn is worth the trip. See pic.
Second choice goes to Edom Cafe in beautiful downtown Edom.
