kdogg817--the question is what have you been smoking--not the BBQ place been smokin' if you think FTW comes anywhere near the area around Luling/New Braunfels/Austin for BBQ....
have you eaten at any places in that area???
I think some of them are over-rated but most any one is better than what you can get around here--Dickey's is a joke as far as I am concerned just like Sonny Bryan's
quality is not consistent, meat is not that great, they don't make their own sausage...
Hard Eight does a pretty good job but it is almost too upscale and gimmicky with its menu to qualify as a BBQ joint...
have not been to Angelo's in years
and the worst time to eat BBQ in Luling is during the Thump---you can't get in for one thing--and they sell out too early...

I would say Baker's Ribs--especially the Commerce St location--is the best in Dallas, but it doesn't compare to the Barbecue Belt near Austin.
If you want the best barbecue in Texas go to Lockhart and try to eat at all 4 places in one day...it's heaven.

Not in Dallas but close enough - Clark's Outpost up in Tioga is definitely worth the drive. If you're in McKinney or Denton you really need to go try it.

Lockhart (and to a lesser extent, Luling) is the BBQ capital of Texas. You're not going to find anything that compares in Dallas. The closest I have had was at the original Sonny Bryan's (don't like their chained locations, though).

I visited the original Sonny Bryan's and thought their brisket was quite good (surprisingly). I asked specifically for meat form the point though.
Their sides were terrible, though, so I guess getting some brisket to go in a fix would be the way to go.
Doesn't Frisco have a Rudy's? That would be the best in town IMO.
