And does anyone in Texas know what Brunswick Stew is? A staple at any decent BBQ joint in GA and the Carolinas, would have to be a transplant that specializes in food from back home. Any ideas anyone? I've asked around work and have yet to find a Texan who even knows what Brunswick stew is. I would drive a good hour for some good Brunswick Stew.

Red, Hot & Blue has pork BBQ and Brunswick Stew. Yes, I do know what they are as well . My oldest loves Brunswick Stew. Red, Hot & Blue is Memphis style bbq and pretty good. Not as good as some of the "joints" found back in GA and SC that serve pork bbq but for this area it ain't bad. There are a few other places that serve pork bbq and Brunswick Stew but I can not think of them right now......
Oh, where is Red, Hot & Blue? One in Plano on Plano Pkwy just west of Preston and another in Dallas on 75/Central at Walnut Hill (southeast corner).

They serve the cole slaw ON the sandwich as well . Their sweet tea is pretty darn good as well and I like it that they use the big glasses.
Word of warning, sample taste their sauces in the bottles on the table BEFORE just pouring it on your plate, sandwich, food. One is WAY too sweet for me and one is BRING OUT THE HOSE friggin HOT! Oh, my girls decided to order the cheese & sausage appetizer platter to share one visit. It is HUGE and we had more than enough to bring home for me to have for lunch the next day. The sausage on it was on the hot side but it was GOOD!
Dang, I'm hungry now for some bbq and we were gonna grill out some chicken and corn on the cob for hubbies b-day........ wonder if I could talk him into RH&B

Last time I was there, yes. It just got too popular, too quick, IMO.

Hey Momof2, I finally got my fix today. Drove down to the Plano location and took home a pound of pulled pork and two quarts of Brunswick stew for my 4th feast. It was definitely yummy. I dipped about half a quart with my fingers, dribbling down my shirt on the way home to McKinney.
Brunswick stew must have regional differences just like BBQ. This is much chunkier and has potatoes (oops, having a Dan Quayle moment, is that right? or is it potatos? no, the first looks better). The GA version is much, much finer minced meat, no potatoes but does have corn. Maybe a tad sweeter than this as well. But it was still very tasty.
Anybody know of another DFW restaurant that would have the kind of Brunswick stew I am describing here?

No clue about the Brunswick stew, but you spelled potatoes right. Quayle messed up because he told the kid to add an e to the singualr "potato."

Fred's on Irving Boulevard. My husband always gets the baked potato the first reviewer raves about. It's so loaded with goodness that the grease and butter leak through the styrofoam to-go container. (Not out the cracks; THROUGH the actual styrofoam.)
