I have tickets to the Coldplay concert in July. The tickets are GA PIT. I am wondering how early I need to get there to be able to get the front of the pit? I know the gates open 90 minutes before the concert, but do people start waiting outside way before that?

People do indeed line up before the gates open. If it's a sold out show, I would show up before they open, just to stake out my place up front.

Seats are reserved at most all concert venues.

Not necessarily. Some shows have a general admission pit area where there are no seats.

The lawn area at this particular venue is general admission. Just a big open grass area for you to stake out your spot. There is reserved seating in front of the lawn.

When did this venue (formerly known as Smirnoff, Starplex.....) get a "pit"??? They never had one before.

They don't do the pit for all concerts. Just depends on the artist I guess. Nokia is the same way. Some shows have a "pit" area and some don't.

There were not any PIT tickets originally on Ticketmaster and the show was sold out. Then out of the blue April 27, Ticketmaster starting selling PIT tickets for $97 which is the price of all the reserved seating!! Pretty good deal I think. From what people are saying it may be because they were not originally going to have a PIT and then decided to since it was a sold out show or that it was done to throw off the scalpers who bought all the tickets at the pre-sale and general sale and would not know that the PIT tickets were on sale later. Either way I am sooo excited, but I guess I need to be prepared to sweat my A*S off in the July heat.

Yes, you will be HOT in that area in July. That is one venue where having seats too far up front is not a good thing in the heat. No air circulation at all the closer to the front you are. Your going to be one hot sardine for sure. I actually prefer to sit near the rear of the first section or the front of the second. Just to have SOME air.

When I have been to concerts there we usually tailgate in the parkign lot before the show. Its always good to catch a mean buzz before you have to pay for $7 beers. The last concert I went to was willie nelson.

^^^ You drink plenty before going in so that you don't have to once your inside. Then you come out and tailgate some more watching the crowds leave and the cars piled up trying to get out. Once it gets to where the cars are starting to move you can pack up and be out of the parking lot in 2 minutes or less instead of waiting in your car for 20-30 minutes in a line TRYING to get out of the parking lot
