I lived there as a child in the 80's. I have a client that lives there now and I would not want to live there unless you want the slow paced area. And yes it is Dallas schools.

I don't know much about Seagoville, good or bad. From my own experiences there it seems like a quiet kind of town. No razzle-dazzle, but I don't hear many crime reports or problems coming out of Seagoville either. If you are weary of the DISD aspect, there is a small neighborhood in Seagoville where the kids go to Mesquite schools. I'm not sure why, but they do. It is called Highland Meadows and it is right off of I-20.

Map of Shannon Rd & Lumley Rd Seagoville, TX by MapQuest

I have driven through there and it looks like a nice, quiet neighborhood. Crandall, Forney, and Mesquite are also nearby and all have nice areas.

Great story, Lakewooder. It is stories like these that prove that smart, innovative students can be found in all schools across the DFW area regardless of what district it is, what the school's TAKS rating is, or the overall perception of the community.

why does anyone want to live in a small town that is up and coming?? it defeats the purpose of living in a small town.i prefer seagoville because it IS small and doesn't change./after living in dallas and garland for so many years,seagoville is a great change.even though it's not far from the dallas city limits it's basically still a small rural community and as countrylike as crandall or kauffman.i don't know about the schools in seagoville as my kids are grown.but seagoville as a place to live,i would reccomend it to anyone..unlike dallas and garland and more populated cities,seagoville is dead after sundown.that's what i like the most about it./

To answer your question, property value increase would be one reason to live in a small town that is up & coming.

Forney fits that bill, also has an Exemplary School District, one of 9 in the DFW area.

Seagoville is pretty bad. Look at any school ranking criteria and you found them in the bottom 25%.

You can go on schooldigger and Greatschools. DISD just opened a new elementary school in Seagoville.

The schools are:
* Seagoville Elementary School Seagoville Elementary School - Seagoville, Texas - TX - School overview https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...51/school.aspx
* Seagoville North Elementary School Seagoville North Elementary School - Dallas, Texas - TX - School overview
* Central Elementary School Central Elementary School - Seagoville, Texas - TX - School overview https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...33/school.aspx

The middle and high schools are named after Seagoville but are just outside the Seagoville city limits, in Dallas.
* Seagoville Middle School Seagoville Middle School - Dallas, Texas - TX - School overview https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...53/school.aspx
* Seagoville High School Seagoville High School - Dallas, Texas - TX - School overview https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...52/school.aspx

Students have access to DISD magnet schools which have way better test scores than these schools, but they have to be accepted and they are a long bus ride away.

There is a portion of Seagoville in Mesquite ISD. The Mesquite ISD attendance zone http://www.mesquiteisd.org/about/map...dZones1213.pdf indicates houses in the parts of Seagoville also in MISD are in the zones of Achziger Elementary School, Terry Middle School, and Horn High School (in Mesquite).
* Achziger: http://www.greatschools.org/texas/me...entary-School/ https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...89/school.aspx
* Terry: http://www.greatschools.org/texas/me...Middle-School/ https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...01/school.aspx
* Horn: http://www.greatschools.org/texas/me...n-High-School/ https://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/s...64/school.aspx

I am familiar with this subdivision that feeds into Mesquite ISD. It's a nice subdivision and those are some good schools.
