We are heading to a late show at Lakewood Theater in June and looking for some places to eat relatively close to there. Any must try suggestions? There will be 7 or 8 of us if that matters. Also any good after theater bar suggestions. Thanks!

Right next door to the theater is Matt's. AWESOME Tex-Mex (gotta love their Bob Armstrong Dip and Margarita's ). They have a patio area as well w/ a bar area on it besides just the dining. There is a bar inside the theater as well. Angelo's for Italian is also in Lakewood. Both of these are places you can park for dinner, walk over to the theater for the show and walk to for drinks afterwards. You do NOT want to be looking for parking for all 3. Parking is tight in Lakewood. Matt's serves really fast as it is a well oiled machine (when you have been in the biz as long as they have.....you get it down). You can be in and out of there really easy but the wait can be bad if you show up right at the height of dinner time. Go early and eat and if you happen to have a lot of spare time you can always hang out at the bar at Matt's for some more drinks before walking next door.

Great suggestions. Matt's sounds awesome. I am guessing tex-mex will go over well with the group and if it doesn't they're all just plain weird and if they don't like it that's what they get for putting me in charge of our little excursion. Thanks!

Before the show you might want to hit times ten cellars - Dallas, Texas Winery - Wine Tasting Bar

After the show there's the Balcony Club at the Theater (live Jazz) or the relatively quiet Lakewood Tavern on the other side of Matt's. There's also Lakewood Bar and Grill on Gaston which has bands on the weekend. But that is a bit more of a dive -- however, we do like those around here -- see Lakewood Landing

Oh my gosh all of these sound great. I can always count on you guys for good suggestions. Now just to figure out what I want to do. I am all about the dive's and hole in the wall places so I will have to check out Lakewood Landing for sure. Thanks again you guys!

Angelo's Italian is awesome. Be sure and make a reservation since it is a bigger party. Angelo's is a small place and they only have a couple of large tables. Get the Fruitti Di Mare pasta for me...

Dixie-Lakewood?

Also Angelo's has a couple of rooms upstairs you might be able to reserve with a large party.

Also does anyone know about the new Penne Pommodoro set to go in next door to Dixie?
