It's a facebook group made up by snobby high school kids who want their own reality TV (a la "The OC" and "The Hills")fantasy. I wouldn't take it that seriously. I'm willing to bet you can find similar facebook groups with similar snobby rants from any wealthy area, HP included.

I went to high school in Plano and have lived in West Plano for 20 years. Yes, my backyard is on the Gleneagles golf course. And we have a pool and a maid. Lol.

There are all kinds of people. Yeah, everyone has money, but not all of them are snooty-patootie jack*sses who spoil their kids rotten and don't give them any sense of honor and discipline.

Just like anything and anywhere, the most obnoxious are the most interesting, so they are the ones you notice.

And frankly, why wouldn't I want to live somewhere pretty and far from crime? Where I can have nice things and not worry about people messing with them?

Highland Park and especially University Park also have new some money folks who show off. The old money folks I grew up around tried to hide the fact that they had money - they aren't snotty and they don't look down on folks with less - usually they are very friendly and approachable. And some of them hide it because they don't want to be in the news or become a lawsuit magnet. We have some new money around here and I hear the old money folks laughing at them and saying stuff like "if you have a superior attitude, take it to the bubble". If they see somebody going overboard with overly renovated homes and brand new luxury cars they will just think they are foolishly wasting money. Better to be able to travel, educate yourself or donate to a good cause rather then spending vast sums on selfish and vain things...

To be precise, most of the "Collin County Jew Crew" (that's a new one) lives in Far North Dallas (centered around Hillcrest/Frankford) instead of in Plano. Frankford Middle School - heavily Jewish. Renner Middle - not so much.

Not anywhere near the extent that West Plano people do.
I am not saying that either place is superior to one another, but the culture in each is very different. A lot of HP kids have parents and grandparents who grew up in HP and UP. There definitely is some new money in the area, particularly in UP, but it doesn't dominate the neighborhood. There are some old money people in West Plano, but they don't dominate the neighborhood.

It is just a fact that the "new money" culture is much more predominant in West Plano. Just take a look at the houses--the vast majority were built within the last 10 or 20 years and definitely look like it.

Old school Willow Bend was built in the late seventies and early 80s.

"Vast Majority" does not mean all of them. But you've only named part of one subdivision of West Plano.

And when comparing to many of the houses in HP, late 70s is still very new money.

So who cares if it's "new money" or "old money", Plano clearly has money...and diversity, which was important in my consideration to move there. It has the most diverse population out of any of the other wealthiest Dallas enclaves.

But yeah, the Chinese or Indian rich immigrant is welcomed in Plano and shunned in UP/HP. The Iranian woman who bought a $20 million ticket to space last year is from Plano.
