I have a 22 month old son that I am looking to find a "Mother's Day Out" program for one or two days a week. We live in Lakewood. I am kinda terrified to leave him with people I don't know and would love personal recommendations for caring programs in the Lakewood area. I would prefer a secular or progressive church program. We are Jewish, so any program recommended would have to be accepting and respectful of non-christian children attending. Thank you so much for the help! This forum was extremely helpful in picking the Lakewood area (which we LOVE) when we moved from Los Angeles and we appreciate the insight.

Several of our neighbors have sent their kids to Ridgewood Methodist, and I hear good things about Zion & Wilshire Baptist.

We had the reverse situation when we were in LA - we're Catholic and sent our 2-yr-old to the JCC for preschool. Honestly, when they're that young the religion thing is all a wash - the messages are generally "don't hit" and "share your toys" which is the same in any religion. We moved, but were coming to the logical end when he turned 4 and started to wonder aloud why we weren't doing Shabbat prayers at home. ;-) One of the advantages was that I learned a lot about Judaism...we celebrated all the holidays and had to bring kosher snack...it was a great experience for the whole family!

Good luck,
Deb

While this one is not in Lakewood it is not that far in Garland on Northwest Hwy. Just in case you want more options. It is at a Methodist church but several of my Jewish friends in the area sent their kids here and LOVED IT!!! One was a teacher till she quiet to stay home w/ her kids and she thought VERY HIGHLY of their curriculium.
