While the concept of Frisco being a destination city is laughable - Frisco as an employment center is certainly more realistic. Many metro areas have one primary employment center with several bedroom communities. DFW is more spread out. The Dallas North Tollway all the way from Dallas through Plano and into Frisco has a relatively dense concentration of employment - not only retail, but also white-collar. I'm not a fan of Frisco (or any new, sterile area for that matter), but one thing it is not is a bedroom community.

So far this year, I have sold 9 homes in Frisco alone. 5 of those families were from Dallas proper looking for a safer neighborhood to raise a family. 4 of them were born/raised in Dallas.

FYI - On The Border started on Knox before it was franchised and copied in a myriad of mindless iterations.

True it's not the same building - it was originally in the building which now houses Smith and Hawken. It was Mariano's Cabrito Cafe before it was "On the Border".

Similarly, Chili's is an original Dallas restaurant which started on Greenville Ave. -- If I could turn back time I would put it back that way!

Were any of them going to Frisco because they wanted to go to public school vs being in Dallas and using private school? I ask because I have talked to a few Dallas proper/Dallas ISD families who have had their kids in private school, but due to the economy didn't want to or couldn't afford it any longer. They are trying to decide whether to move to get into better public schools.

While my wife and I don't have kids - and we may or may not have them ever - DISD was a negative (yes, there are good individual schools, but you have to be very careful which area you're in). If DISD improved, Dallas proper (within DISD) would see a large increase of families moving in. This is one of the reasons the Lake Highlands area is doing so well, it's in RISD and the local schools are all good.

I do know of one couple with a little girl who moved from the M-Streets (the part in Robert E. Lee Elementary which is recognized) to Frisco. Then they decided they hated it. But when they tried to move back, everything had jumped by $200K and they couldn't afford it.

There really isn't any room for an influx of families to move in. Most of those in the nicer areas of the district simply understand that private school has to be built in to the cost of the home. There are a LOT of private schools in the area and most of them are excellent schools.

Well I have watched a lot of these private schools spring up over the years and most of them are white flight 'academies'. I remain unconvinced that they are good schools. The old prestigious private schools - one of which you attended "ranger" are excellent and have tried to diversify their student population over the years.
