Those of you scared to get in the rivers & lakes...just remember, there's more pollution in the local pool than there is in your toilet. Lakes and rivers are ecological wonders of nature that literally decontaminate themselves continuously. As long as there's not an active source of pollution (pipes with raw sewage, etc.) you're better off swimming in a lake than a pool. Chlorine is worse for you than poop. Good day!

If you're going to Joe Pool Lake I would recommend Lynn Creek Park. The east side of the lake has a swimming area as well but from my experience it just isn't as nice and well kept as the Lynn Creek swimming area. Burger's Lake in Fort Worth is nice as well and has many activities with the downside being it's size. If your willing to go a bit further out, Granbury City Beach is nice and worth the drive. This one is next to the Brazos River and is not too far from Fort Worth.
