There isn't much of a singles scene near UTD. You might try Addison, but that's about 15-20 min away. UTD has a large apartment complex called Waterview where you can live--I've heard it isn't super nice though, and most students are going to be under 22.

Addison is the best you can really hope for. For $800 I'm sure you can get a nice 1 bedroom somewhere in Addison.

Thanks

Addison has lots of restaurants n pubs... it'll be nice if u like to hangout @ night
In general people drive nice cars there =)

Richardson has large asian community, not sure about safety tho.
It is a kinda old city to me

West Plano has some rich people but I am not sure about the rent.
you can go Las colinas if you dun mind driving... those apartments along MacArthur are pretty nice.

Addison 15-20 minutes from UTD? In rush hour traffic maybe.

Agreed! From W Richardson I can zip down Arapaho into Addison in usually less than 10. A very easy drive.

As far as statistically safe areas, most of Addison is, in my experience, quite safe...but you can check out that info here on C-D. Lots of apartments and condos in Addison w/ plenty of night life (mainly chain places and some bars but as close as a 'scene' as you'll probably find N of 635) and in your price range, you can definitely find something decent.

As far as 'burbs go, I love Richardson. But it is more family-centric than Addison (though, IMO, you'll not find nearly as much stroller traffic as Plano) and the area that borders UTD is quiet and established. You could likely be a bit bored in this immediate 'hood...and when the students and joggers go home, after 9 PM or so, the UTD/Canyon Creek area is pretty darn quiet.

There are two brand new upscale apt/loft communities right down the street from UTD near Campbell @ 75 which are attracting the trendy 20 and 30-something Telecom Corridor crowd--Post Eastside and The Venue.

Las Colinas is a OK area for singles too, but the commute will definitely be longer and the rent prices for the complexes on Lake Carolyn are pricey. I'd look into places in Dallas proper like TheVillageapts.com | Home (http://www.thevillageapts.com/index_flash.shtml - broken link) before Las Colinas.

The center of the singles scene is Central Expressway (75) at Knox-Henderson - east to Greenville Ave, south to Deep Ellum and west to Uptown and down to Downtown and Cedars/Southside. If you located in the Village or Knox-Henderson area you can use Central to get to UTD. There's also a rail line running along (and under) Central but I don't know how you would get from the station to UTD. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle?

Are you a student? I ask because I know of an apartment renting for $770 per month, across from the American Airlines Center, if you meet the low income test (as most students do).

Thanks. I am getting the picture. Any recommendation? I Think that TheVillageapts.com | Home (http://www.thevillageapts.com/index_flash.shtml - broken link) is ok. Anybody knows other options?
