I am thinking about a consult for my child who has Math difficulties (dyscalculia) and ADHD (but hyperness is really anxiety, I think). This year in school has successfully taught him to panic!

Has anyone had a positive or negative experience with Mathnasium (Las Colinas)? What is the price range (generally)? Is the testing expensive? Comprehensive? and worth the money? I need a program that offers various learning styles, mainly visual using pictures, graphs, etc.

I had tried a facility previously that let him move at his pace (which was not at all) and it was a total waste of money for my kid. The "private instructors" were kids in high school and the one that was supposed to be helping my kid read a book the whole time (you can watch through a window). The whole summer and he did not progress past the 3's in addition!

Thanks for any advice.

As I posted in the one before this try the math version of hooked on phonics it works great. My daughter is like this in math and I love this program.. also no chocolate or caffiene, limited sugar. this helps the 'jitters' tell your child just to check and recheck thierselves on the math. and it helps if they can take the 'test' or whatever in a completely quiet room or they have a teacher on hand that can help them see the correct way they numbers are laid out.good luck

This place might be of help, or point you in the right direction. Looks like there's only one center in Dallas, on Travis street ...
