Military Retiree headed back home in a year (Dallas, Lancaster: low crime, houses)

I will retire from the Army in a year and looking to move back to the Dallas area (after 20 years). I'm looking for a good neighborhood (low crime, houses in the 200s) in a good school district (2 children JH and HS age). Also looking for something close to military facilities if there are any to take advantage of my retirement benefits...Ive heard there is a Naval Airstation close by but have not done much research. VA Hospitals???

The Naval Air Station is over on the western edge of Ft Worth. The VA Hospital is on the south side of Dallas near Lancaster. Being in a northern suburb of Dallas would put you far away from either.

Red Oak and Waxahachie have good schools--just south of Dallas in Ellis county, fairly close to the VA hospital.
