I just served two weeks ago as a Juror for the Dallas Country. However, this week I got a new Petit Juror Summons for the City of Dallas. When I called the lady told me is a completely different system and I have to go.

Is this correct? Can someone explain why are the two summons valid?

I'm no lawyer and I am not giving legal advice here. But why wouldn't they be valid?

I do know one thing - ignoring a summons could get you arrested. If it were me, I'd show up, and explain your situation to the presiding judge or person in charge. Maybe you can get out of it. MAYBE.

I thought once you serve on a Jury you dont have to serve in the next 6 months. That is why I thought it was not valid.

Different jurisdictions would be my guess.

Why do I get so many jury summons?
You may receive a jury summons from the City government, the County government and the Federal government. To avoid receiving more than one summons per jury wheel in Dallas County, you need to check with the Elections Division of Dallas County to inquire if your driver's license number is listed on your voter's registration record.

FYI the current jury wheel is 2.5 years, so unless you are double listed you will be safe for awhile.

Re repeated jury duty: In order to be exempt from a second jury summons received from the Municipal Court City of Dallas, one must have either 1) served on a Municipal Court Petit Jury during the last twelve months or 2) served as a juror for 6 days during the last 3 months in County Court or for 6 days during the last 6 months in District Court. Preparing to report for duty in the morning, I am taking this directly from my City of Dallas Municipal Court summons - having just served 2 days in County Court two weeks ago.
