Nice = low crime, decent schools, respectable levels of ethnic diversity

A big thanks in advance for your help!

The only place I can think of is a complex on Bruton and 635 in Mesquite. I remember they had sign out front that said 2bd room units for $645. I never heard of any crime in the units and they are fairly quit. Whites, blacks and hispanics live in them and the schools are decent. I do not know the name of them.

hmm I don't know, but I would try the midcities (Hurst, Euless, Bedford, North Richland Hills) area. the area seems affordable to me.

Only if you go far away from downtown. Like 30-40 miles out of Dallas or Fort Worth.

you may want to give Carrollton a shot. I don't know if you will find anything, but it is worth a try. The schools came out pretty good on that Newsweek report and yes, the area has changed, but you certainly can think about it. Otherwise, like Dave said, you may need to look out quite a ways. Oh, another thought might be Lewisville. I don't know what the rents are like, but there are some pretty nice apartments there and the area would be fairly safe.

I recently moved to the Las Colinas/ VR area. There are actually some complexes that have 2b/ 2b ~ 900sq ft for 675-750... You should try an apartment locators. Evelio at Las Colinas apartment locators is great.

Carrollton is iffy--my son had his car stolen from one complex and had issues with people who lived under them--police came out several times...
so they moved "up" in price and what they thought was quality--and have had to call police about the people above them for excessive noise, fighting, and have gotten no help from the apt mgmnt...

so much of it depends on which apt you get--other people with better neighbors might be perfectly happy...

I agree, that is why I made that comment, the high schools did get awesome rating considering though. I think, like in many areas, you have to be careful about Carrollton, but there are still some good areas with relatively cheap rentals. This is the downfall to the OPs request, $700 a month isn't a lot of money for an apartment in a good area, safe, little crime and good schools. if it were me, I would probably try the Euless area, Grapevine or lewisville, but Carrollton is so close to downtown.

This is my first time posting but do you have more information about this apartment locator service, is "Apartment Locators" the actual name of the business? Thanks.
